The Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry (“SCAI”) is already investigating 69 institutions.
This week, a further 17 institutions have been added to that list, hot on the heels of last week’s announcement. Those now added may broadly be described as “care providers”. They comprise healthcare establishments, non-religious / voluntary organisations, boarding schools and local authority establishments as well as The Archdiocese of Glasgow in respect of a school. The timescale for the inquiry to hear any evidence in respect of the further institutions now added remains to be determined at this stage.
SCAI next sits to hear further evidence from 23 October 2018. This will be on residential child care establishments run by non-religious and voluntary organisations.
